The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identities of two individuals found deceased inside a residence in the Anderson community following a welfare check conducted Saturday morning.

According to Sheriff Joe Hamilton, deputies were dispatched to a home on County Road 93 at approximately 8:46 a.m. after a family member reported being unable to reach one of the residents. Upon arrival and entry into the residence, authorities located a man and a woman deceased inside a bedroom. A firearm was also recovered at the scene, officials said.

Lauderdale County Coroner Kim Jones identified the deceased as 35-year-old Kelsey Rebekah King and 40-year-old Charles Wilson King. Officials reported that Charles King sustained a single gunshot wound. Both bodies were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville, where autopsies will be performed to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators stated that preliminary findings suggest the incident involved one of the deceased individuals as the suspected shooter. Authorities emphasized that no prior law enforcement calls or incidents had been reported at the residence before this event.

The case remains under active investigation as law enforcement continues to collect evidence and await autopsy results to establish a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The incident has deeply affected the Anderson community, where family members, friends, and neighbors are mourning the loss of Kelsey and Charles King. Loved ones are remembering the couple as investigators work to determine exactly what transpired inside the home.
